There is no God to determine who gets to be born stupid (like Tim) or who is born superior (like me!).

The issue about demon possession has been adequately explained in my exorcism post: It is pure baloney. We have no reason to utilize a supernatural cause to what is purely a mortal defect than to hypothesize the effects of demonic manifestations behind cancers and the common flu.

BeastBEAST FCDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05679628160308289045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35324441.post-49201423352100440132008-02-18T08:06:00.000-06:002008-02-18T08:06:00.000-06:00Anonymous,I appreciate you giving me the benefit o...Anonymous,

I appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt, for I am definitely not insenitive when it comes to the persons spoken of in my post. I have three cousins who have various mental handicaps.

"However, while I'm here and on the subject, how do you *know* that God talks to mentally handicapped people?"

Christ said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" [John 12:32] is just one example of yes, Scripture.

"The truth is, according to you, if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your saviour, you go to hell. End of discussion."

According to Scripture this is so, but this does not answer the question as to how God communicates to those mentioned in my post, nor as to how they respond to such a calling.

I wrote, "Here lies the issue, we would like to assume that they could all go to Heaven because we feel sorry for them, but if we believe God can communicate with them on their level (whatever that may be) then we must also realize that they have the option to either accept or reject the truth presented by the Holy Spirit on their level."

So, I don't believe I am trying to "make up stuff to make your god seem more benevolent and compassionate."

As for as, "I think because you (not necessarily YOU, in particular, but 'you', as in, Christians) can't fathom a god who would be so cruel as to create a living being with no possible hope of salvation," we acknowledge as do you that rejection of the gospel of Jesus Christ will mean hell for the lost soul, but hell was not created for men, but "prepared for the devil and his angels" [Matthew 25:41].

To say God simply created mentally handicapped people to go to hell, I find no where in Scripture. And you call me insensitive? Unless this is not what you meant by, "[You] can't fathom a god who would be so cruel as to create a living being with no possible hope of salvation"

TimSplinters of Silverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02899357787697070658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35324441.post-83431916714957028492008-02-17T03:26:00.000-06:002008-02-17T03:26:00.000-06:00http://atheisthaven.blogspot.com/2008/01/pope-razi...http://atheisthaven.blogspot.com/2008/01/pope-razinger-promotes-exorcism.htmlBEAST FCDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05679628160308289045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35324441.post-81163594179982664272008-02-15T19:01:00.000-06:002008-02-15T19:01:00.000-06:00Hi,I just wanted to let you know that some people ...Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that some people may find the phrase "people who are born mental" a little bit insensitive/non-PC. Calling them "mental" is a little bit like using the word "retarded" - outdated and entirely insensitive. Not that I think you did it to be derogatory or mean - I just thought I would let you know :)

However, while I'm here and on the subject, how do you *know* that God talks to mentally handicapped people? Is it in the Bible? I think because you (not necessarily YOU, in particular, but 'you', as in, Christians) can't fathom a god who would be so cruel as to create a living being with no possible hope of salvation, you sort of 'wishful think' something like that up. The truth is, according to you, if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your saviour, you go to hell. End of discussion. So I don't think you get to make up stuff to make your god seem more benevolent and compassionate, when he didn't see fit to narrate anything of that nature to the men who wrote His Bible for Him.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
