C.H. Spurgeon
Sinners, let me address you with words of life; Jesus wants nothing from you, nothing whatsoever, nothing done, nothing felt; he gives both work and feeling. Ragged, penniless, just as you are, lost, forsaken, desolate, with no good feelings, and no good hopes, still Jesus comes to you, and in these words of pity he addresses you, "Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out."

John Bunyan
To be saved is to be preserved in the faith to the end. 'He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.' (Mt. 24:13) Not that perseverance is an accident in Christianity, or a thing performed by human industry; they that are saved 'are kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation.' (1 Pet. 1: 3-6) But perseverance is absolutely necessary to the complete saving of the soul…. He that goeth to sea with a purpose to arrive at Spain, cannot arrive there if he be drowned by the way; wherefore perseverance is absolutely necessary to the saving of the soul.

Yes, Tim, put on the armour of God, strap on some bombs and off you go to kill some stupid infidels.
New atheists or not, the time will come when Christianity, like all the other religions that have come and left their indelible mark in the sands of time, will walk the way of the dodo.
The sooner we do that the better. If you don't like it, either join the Osama team, or move to the mountains.
And quit whining.

BTW the mom who taught her daughter was a sinner is really just committing child abuse.

My post on child abuse. I include the link to the stupid mother who thinks her child is a wretched kid.

Beast,
'New atheists or not, the time will come when Christianity, like all the other religions that have come and left their indelible mark in the sands of time, will walk the way of the dodo.'
You must be talking about the Rapture, but consider when the Church (Christians) are removed from this present world, then commeth the great tribulation. The Beast - not you mind you - but the Antichrist for 7 years, then shall Christ return to slay the wickedness of both mankind and angelic beings. And at His return, there will be none who stand to shout toward Him, but will beg even the earth to hide them from His face.
Don't pray for His quick return, unless you are ready to give account for yourself unto the Holy Almighty God, thy Creator.

'stupid mother' - Beast?
This is an opinion based neither on logic nor reason, but is simply the opinion of one who denies the existance of the Most High God.
Tim
Lol, Tim.
First of all, the Rapture. Christians have been predicting the 2nd coming of Christ for two millennial... but something seems amiss. A missing screw in his space saucer? Who knows?
Secondly, what kind of a mother will tell her child that she's a wretched, lowly sinner who deserves to burn for eternity? And the worst part is, she doesn't believe in building up the kid's self esteem! I mentioned that in my blog post.
Let me give you an example. Years ago, my little bro, who is nine yrs younger than me, had problems with mathematics at home. He got so depressed he was wondering if he was the most stupid boy on the planet. Instead of lampooning him, I encouraged him, gave him assessments, and told him that he definitely was smart, just that he didn't have the right direction. Guess what? Today he he awaiting to go to university. Goes to show how important self esteem is.
That is why I say,the mother is stupid.

Beast,
I appreciate you sharing the encouragement you gave your brother. You are correct to note regarding math, if you had agreed that you also believed he was stupid or belittled him, quite possibly he would have never bettered himself to become more proficient in mathematics.
The difference is, whereas one can improve themselves with academics by reading, studying, working hard, listening to good teaching, and putting into practice the proper techniques and learning – which is also how one should live the Christian life – it is impossible to convert our depraved dead spirits and sinful flesh. God must do it by calling us out of sin, moving us toward repentance, allowing faith to embrace the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ unto the regeneration of our very souls.
Simply put:
Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We are born ‘dead in trespasses and sins.’ It is not until we are saved that, ‘we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.’ [Ephesians 2:10]
Nothing we can do, not reading, studying, working hard, listening to good teaching, or TRYING to put into practice the proper techniques and learning will save us. So, to simply tell a child they are good in and of themselves and can do better (concerning Christianity, sin, and salvation), leaves them sinners (still needing forgiveness of such) believing they have no need of a Savior; that somehow they can obtain righteousness by themselves. Impossible [Isaiah 64:6].
So, yes, tell your brother he can do better in mathematics, but no man can make themselves righteous and sinless in and of themselves; they must acknowledge themselves a sinner, repent, and put faith in Christ.
Tim
You still don't get it......
My anecdote with regards to my brother is a prime example of how important self esteem is to a kid. If I told him from the start that he was a worthless moron destined to fail, then he would fail. It would be like a self proclaiming prophesy come true.
In the case of the stupid mother, she told her child that she is no better that a wretched person. I mean, how does anyone with half a wit and a brain say that to a 4 yr old kid?
In this case, it is pretty obvious the mother has a screw gone loose, and I stand by my remarks that she is a bloody stupid moron and a child abuser.
Beast FCD
Beast,
You may indeed stand by your remarks, but with your limited knowledge of the persons (merely a blog post) your 'remarks' are far from being the final authority of the matter. They are mere opinion based on presumptions and ideals you already hold.
Tim
The same can be said of your remarks about gays and atheists.
Only diff is, I justify my stance more lucidly than yours, since I have a far superior grasp of the English language.
And that too, coming from a Chinese. Mind you, English is my second language.
