C.H. Spurgeon

Sinners, let me address you with words of life; Jesus wants nothing from you, nothing whatsoever, nothing done, nothing felt; he gives both work and feeling. Ragged, penniless, just as you are, lost, forsaken, desolate, with no good feelings, and no good hopes, still Jesus comes to you, and in these words of pity he addresses you, "Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out."

Who Are You Voting For?

As we approach the day of election there is no doubt countless things are running through our minds. In fact, many of you may have already cast your vote by the time you get this letter. How can any of us remove ourselves from it when the billboards, television commercials, news channels, newspapers, magazines, basically everywhere we look, we are bombarded with the advertisement?

Both candidates have been around mankind long enough to know what draws a crowd, what will persuade minds, and how people will likely react to certain conditions and stimulants. They know the differences between the mindsets of both males and females, along with ethnic groups, and it appears that both parties are ready and willing to share their ideals with any who will listen.

Both candidates find their way into our homes and minds, as they ask for our time, money, families, and friends. There is no doubt that each of these persons desires us to put our faith in them, while we turn away from the other one. Daily do we yet hear their message at every turn. They need our money that their message may be furthered, our time so that we may speak to family and friends convincing persons to vote for them, and quite often we show our support by the advertisement of our clothing, stickers on our vehicles, signs in our yards, and by our daily conversations.

The truth of the matter is we have a liar, a cheat, a hypocrite, a conniver, and a deceiver, one who speaks enticing words into itching ears that will only lead us down a broad road of destruction on the left. While on the right, we have one who is wise, faithful, honest, and caring, who has suffered great for our freedom and will be there with us down the strait and narrow path that will lead to great blessings.

Now, when such diverse platforms can be run by two totally different persons, yet the minds and hearts of the people are continuously tossed back and forth as to who they should vote for, what is the problem? Is it the message or the hearts of the people?

Scripture declares, ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,’ while it notes ‘John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.’

Seriously, let us take a moment to consider how much time, energy, and money we give to listen to, to read and study to understand, and give to support a likely candidate that will serve four to eight years in this earthly life. Do we spend equal or greater amount of such (time, energy, and money) learning to know our Savior and turning away from the temptations of the flesh, the world, and the devil? Which of these candidates’ platforms did we follow today, and who do we most often vote for?

May it always be Christ.

The truth is, America has been on the right side for too long, and its obviously not working.

The conniving Republicans work with corporations like Haliburton to fleece from the common folk and create havoc in American politics.

Vote the right President. Vote Obama.

& just in case, Tim, you shouldn't be voting for the Republicans. Your bible does not allow women to stand for elections.

Don't believe me, check the bible. I can help you out. Counting on you to vote Obama.

You,Tim, fit into this criteria.

Beast,

If you believe I am speaking of the Republican and Democratic hopefuls in this post, you have slightly missed the point.

The two candidates and their platforms, of which I speak, are defined in paragraph six (6).

Regardless, I am counting on you to vote the Democrats in.

No more financial meltdowns and the "God told me to attack Iraq" nonsense.

America needs a no nonsense leader, and I think Obama fits the bill.

Mc Cain is too old, and Sarah is too stupid. She can't tell the difference between a moose burger and a chicken wing.

& one more thing.

The republicans hate science; they want to bring their creationist nonsense into science classrooms. Stem cell research facilities are strongly discouraged, and these morons also want to reverse Roe vs Wade to ban abortion.

Vote for Obama. Better be a socialist than a right wing bigot.

Beast,

Interestingly, there are also atheists which are not only against abortion, but would like to see Roe vs. Wade reversed.

Remember here?

Doesn't matter. Just vote for Barack Obama.

I do not want to go through the scare of losing almost all my life savings again.

I fully expect you to vote for Obama. Failing which, renounce your religion, and become a moron.

Bible: Matthew 6

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Dangerous extremist from the far left? It certainly is not Obama.

Anyway, if you are not voting Obama. Don't vote. Palin does not deserve to be in office. Stupidity and presidency shouldn't be synonymous, but thanks to the Republicans who keep fielding in worst candidates every other year, the American presidency is run by morons who can't tell the difference between a moose burger and a chicken wing.

Obama wins! Oh, oh, Tim, did you pray for it to happen? I bet not! Looks like God forgot to answer your prayers?

Or, maybe, just maybe, God knows something that I already knew: You are a bloody hypocrite!!!

Once again, I am glad most Americans have awakened. People like you, Tim, will die out eventually. Homophobics, male chauvinists, slavery supporting Christians, Ku Klux Klan members like yourself.....will become the minority.

You will go extinct with the dinosaurs, Tim. Have fun with Ken Ham in his Creationist Museum.

Write something good about Obama, Tim! Like, how he will reform the economy, change the education system (i.e no Creationism in science classrooms), allow for more stem cell research, more separation of church and state, etc.

Go on. Now is the time to change. & lose your religion too.

Beast,

Your rambling posts seem oh so childish, and your advertised misunderstanding of God so limited and corrupt. But I guess such should be expected from one who desires so much to believe there is no God, and who is apparently convicted by the witness of those who do. For if not, it really wouldn’t bother you that people believe in a Holy God that even you will stand before one day.

Do you really believe a four year term of Obama will create an America that even you would consider to be a Garden of Eden paradise for all people? Oh, I forgot you don’t even believe in such a place.

‘Looks like God forgot to answer your prayers?’ God uses all types of means to bring about his will. Christians have been sending all kinds of prayers to the Father long before this election, and less have been about which exact person to put in office. The judgment of God has been very gracious upon this country and possibly the time has come that Christians will be made to cleave to God in faith and the wicked given the choice to turn to Christ or perish at His return.

‘Once again, I am glad most Americans have awakened.’ If this wasn’t so sad, it would be hilarious. Most Americans are asleep when it comes to the spiritual warfare that is transpiring every day, along with the ideals and concepts that Obama appears to hold. The argument is not that McCain would have saved America, but that the theology of Obama speaks volumes against God, His Word, and righteousness.

You are right Beast, ‘People like you, Tim, will die out eventually.’ Well, there will always be a remnant (according to Scripture), but one day Christ will return to rapture out His Church, then return to cast judgment upon the wicked.

On the day of judgment, all laughter will cease.

Obama may not create Eden, but he certainly will not create hell on Earth like what Bush has done.

The disgraceful Guantanamo episodes, that stupid, folksy cowboy attitude and promise to kill Osama bin Laden, and Bush's ineptness in handling the economy are just some of the legacies he has left behind for Obama to solve.

What Obama can do, however, is stabilize the economy, bring some long lost dignity to the White House, and restore relations once again with the rest of the world. Something Palin cannot do (She thinks Afghanistan is America's neighbor).

Yes, I admit, it was a tad childish. But I am excited. And excitement got the better of me.

Nothing pleases me more than a sad, morose Christian, who, after praying for conservative Republican, gets liberal Democrat instead.

John Bunyan

To be saved is to be preserved in the faith to the end. 'He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.' (Mt. 24:13) Not that perseverance is an accident in Christianity, or a thing performed by human industry; they that are saved 'are kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation.' (1 Pet. 1: 3-6) But perseverance is absolutely necessary to the complete saving of the soul…. He that goeth to sea with a purpose to arrive at Spain, cannot arrive there if he be drowned by the way; wherefore perseverance is absolutely necessary to the saving of the soul.
